Director of Fun

Your very own Director of Fun & Adventure

Rubens at the Palace - Malcolm Hendry

Hello kids! My name is John and I’m the Director of Fun and Adventure at The Rubens at the Palace. I have been at The Rubens for 34 years so when you arrive I can tell you all the secrets of the building and the comings and goings at the hotel. I’ve even seen The Queen drive past many times! I’m a big kid at heart, so I am looking forward to meeting you all and helping you explore the wonderful City of London.

My top must-sees for kiddies in London include:

  • Buckingham Palace - The official residence of the British Royal Family is located next door to the hotel
  • London Zoo - Get right up close to over 750 species of animals such as penguins, monkeys, tigers and clown fish. The zoo is located inside Regent's Park and easily accessible via a number of different tube and bus routes.
  • London Duck Tours - Fun for all the family, explore the city from the road and River Thames without leaving your seat
  • The British Museum – Return home an expert on world history. Located in Bloomsbury near Russell Square tube station this museum has over seven million objects on display under one roof!
  • Matilda the Musical in the West End - One of Roald Dahl's best known and most popular stories has been made into a captivating musical masterpiece by Tim Minchin and the Royal Shakespeare Company. It revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dares to change her destiny. Showing at The Cambridge Theatre, a short stroll from Covent Garden tube station, with many family friendly options for pre-theatre dinner.

Of course there are many more sights to see, which I have covered in my Concierge Calling Newsletter. Please get in touch with me on +44 (0)20 7834 6600 or conciergerb@rchmail.com if you would like assistance arranging tickets for the above, or any other London attraction.

I am looking forward to welcoming you and your family to The Rubens at the Palace!
