Witch-Hunt at the Royal Opera House

  • Category: Music & Theatre
  • Dates: Wednesday, 22 May 2013 to Saturday, 25 May 2013

The Royal Opera House is staging a powerful new dance-based drama called Witch-Hunt from May 22nd to 25th 2013.

Conceived by Cathy Marston, director of the acclaimed Bern Ballett ensemble, the show is based on the dramatic and harrowing true story of Anna Goldi, a woman who was brutally executed in 1782 amid allegations of witchcraft.

Featuring baroque music and elaborate choreography, the production dwells on themes of guilt and recollection, while showcasing the technical brilliance and versatile performance style for which Bern Ballett is known.

Ms Marston said she was drawn to Goldi's story due to its ideas of "guilt and innocence, inclusion and exclusion, and how the past changes when viewed from the present".

Guests staying at The Rubens at the Palace Hotel can get two complimentary tickets to see another show with a very different - but no less compelling - depiction of witchcraft by booking a Wicked the Musical package.

This luxury London hotel deal also includes a pre-theatre dinner, a Wicked-themed turndown and a glass of Champagne on arrival.
