Voices of Spring at the Royal Opera House

The Royal Opera House will be staging a new production of the pas de deux dance show Voices of Spring from February 12th to 23rd 2013.

Created by Frederick Ashton for the Royal Opera's 1977 production of Johann Strauss's Die Fledermaus, the piece was developed into an independent production the following year and has won considerable acclaim over the years.

Audiences will be able to marvel at virtuoso performances from a lead ballerina and her partner as they run through intricately-choreographed routines backed by the swirling melody of Strauss's Fruhlingsstimmen waltz.

The purpose of the piece - which features costume designs from Julia Trevelyan Oman and lighting by John Read - is to evoke the effortless, gravity-defying movement that characterises the waltz.
