Category: Music & Theatre Dates: Thursday, 29 May 2014 to Saturday, 05 July 2014 London is set to become an even more magical place this spring as the In The Night Garden stage show will be returning to the city with more fun and frolics for the little ones. The perfect family day out, you can expect all the usual suspects to be in attendance - including Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy and the HaaHoos - and there's even the opportunity to get a photo with them at the end. Clearly, a lot of thought has gone into the preparation of the arena itself and how well the show translates to the stage, which is one of the reasons it really is a must-see performance. Families are led out to an inflatable tent where the atmosphere is cosy and cocooned, and there are full-size and puppet versions of every character with one or the other used depending on the situation. Within the dome, you'll be greeted by a scene featuring a magical tree-covered land that looks very much like the one you'll find in the television version, much to the delight of all children involved. The stories really come to light with the help of puppetry, projection, light and sound. As in the TV version, the stories are simple and easy to follow, with the writers smartly resisting the temptation to introduce complex plots simply because they can. The music is playful and performed by a live orchestra. This is guaranteed to be a great introduction for the little ones to live theatre, proving an exciting affair for those who are under five. Keep the fun going by returning to The Rubens at the Palace, where children under the age of 12 can eat and stay entirely free of charge as part of our special offer.
