Shakespeare's Globe There's plenty going on at Shakespeare's Globe for Will's birthday, and you're invited to everything. As well as new productions of Antony & Cleopatra, Julius Caesar and The Comedy of Errors, a world tour of Hamlet Globe to Globe will kick off at the iconic venue in April before visiting every nation in the world over a two-year period. 2014 will also see the opening of a brand new indoor theatre on the site, with the candlelit venue set to premiere with The Duchess of Malfi. Shakespeare: Our Greatest Living Playwright The V&A Museum is never one to shy away from milestones and will be celebrating the Bard's 450th with an appropriate exhibition on his influence and popularity the world over. Opening February 8th and running until September 28th, the event promises to be a treat for the mind. It features interviews with top literary experts and a wealth of extraordinary items from the V&A collections. The Rose Theatre When the Rose Theatre was constructed in 1587, theatre culture was very different to what it is today. Very much something for the masses, you could famously find anything from bear-baiting to gambling dens inside, along with the actors themselves. Find out more about this world with a visit to the Rose Theatre, which remains almost completely unchanged from the date of its construction - although you obviously won't find any bear-baiting there today! If you're looking to spend an extended time in the capital, be sure to book into The Rubens at the Palace where you can receive 3 nights for the price of 2 for suites or one free night in all rooms as part of the exclusive sale. That way, you have time to celebrate the Bard's birthday bash properly.
