Event: Sounding Out for Families
Date: May 27th until May 31st 2008
For a fantastic family break this spring, parents and children staying at luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace should head for the Royal Opera House.
Taking place from May 27th through until May 31st 2008 is Sounding Out for Families, an exciting theatre event that will allow parents and children to go behind the scenes of the Royal Opera House this half term.
As part of its 150th anniversary celebrations, the Royal Opera House is opening its doors to families to give them the opportunity to create their own soundtrack, design and story of a musical.
The family open day on May 27th at Paul Hamlyn Hall will enable visitors to try out an orchestral instrument in demonstration sessions with staff.
Guests will also be able to enjoy a 'ghost' tour of the building. On the Wednesday, visitors will have the chance to compose two original pieces of music.
On May 29th there will be an experimental morning of music with instruments provided prior to a drawing, painting, cutting, sticking and design session.
Story telling sessions for all the family are also part of this great celebration.
