Get Dengue Fever

Event: See Dengue Fever and special guests at the Institute of Contemporary Arts
Date: November 20th 2008

Fans of music will love the sounds of Dengue Fever, a US band with the beautiful vocals of Cambodian singer Chhom Nimol.

Combining the sounds of Cambodian pop with LA style psychedelia, Dengue Fever will be playing a set that features a combination of covers and material that is very much their own.

Interestingly, many of the lyrics are initially written in English and translated into Khmer for Ms Nimol to sing.

When citing their musical influences, the band mention Blondie, Charles Mingus and The Ventures, among others.

Dengue Fever, who have recently played sets in Prague and at Glastonbury, have been described by the LA Times as "sexy and eclectic, this is world music for the cool kids".

After the gig, a quiet drink at the Rubens at the Palace luxury London hotel could be an ideal way to reminisce about the sounds of the evening.
