Event: Koestler Awards
Dates: September 27th and November 8th
Running throughout this month and the next is the exhibition of the Koestler awards, which showcases 120 pieces of art.
All the works in the show have been produced from inmates from secure hospitals, young offender institutes and prisons.
The exhibition is organised by the Koestler Trust which attracts around 5,000 entries each year and will award 49 prizes to the artists.
Running at the Southbank Centre from September 27th to November 8th, next month will be the last to catch this alternative show.
The Koestler Trust claims to be the best-known prison arts charity and aims to motivate prisoners and encourage them to participate in creative activities.
Most of the artwork at the exhibition is up for sale on Saturdays in order to help fund the charity's costs and aid in providing the prizes of up to £100 for prisoners.
Those wanting to catch the exhibition and make a weekend of it can stay in the The Rubens at the Palace and sample the Go See London package, which offers a sightseeing tour of the city.
