Event: Boris Godunov - English National Opera
Date: November 10th – 29th
A new production of Musorgsky's seven-scene version of Boris Godunov will come to London's Coliseum next month.
The opera, directed by Tim Albery, focuses on 16th-century Russia and the life of a tsar who experiences madness and then dies.
Nine performances of the opera will be shown, on various dates between November 10th and 29th.
A special pre-performance talk will be held on November 15th at 16:45 GMT, where Dennis Marks will discuss the opera and its origins.
Mr Albery has chosen the 1869 version of the opera, as three variations of Musorgsky's work currently exist, after the original was censored.
The director has previously staged the UK premiere of The Fortunes of King Croesus from Reinhard Keiser and was also involved in the Dutchman.
People wanting to make a weekend of it in a luxury hotel can stay at the Rubens at the Palace hotel.
It offers the Go See London package, which gives guests a sightseeing tour of London and a continental breakfast.
