Event: Every Good Boy Deserves Favour
Date: January 12th until January 30th
Londoners will be taken on a trip through the lunatic asylum when Tom Stoppard and Andre Previn's Every Good Boy Deserves Favour comes to the stage at the National Theatre.
Guests staying at the luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace can enjoy some sanity before the play by opting for the Its Showtime package, which will provide them with a full English breakfast, two tickets to a theatre of choice and a pre-theatre dinner before the show.
After enjoying a hearty meal, visitors can look forward to the play, which explores issues including whether one should maintain their belief in the value of truth when a lie can achieve the ends they seek.
This is the question faced by the main protagonist, a Russian dissident who finds himself incarcerated in a dingy mental institution.
His captors offer him a choice - admit to insanity, receive their "cure" and he will be let go.
It is an offer he refuses, remaining steadfast in his beliefs.
While locked up, he comes across another inmate who, in his delirium, believes he has a full orchestra at his command.
This orchestra is central to the play and helps tell the story, which encourages attendees to compare the minds of the two men and ask whether the truth is worth suffering for.
