Yves Le Monochrome at the Southbank Centre

Event: Duncan Woolridge - Yves Le Monochrome
Date: March 3rd until April 19th

Guests at the luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace next month will have the chance to hear Duncan Wooldridge explore different ideas of conceptual art and how the meaning of something can change over time.

In the Yves Le Monochrome exhibition, Mr Wooldridge uses French artist Yves Klein's International Klein Blue (IKB) as his starting point to examine the new connotations which arise when conceptual art is consumed and reproduced.

Klein was particularly keen on searching for and producing new colours and shades, with blue being one of his favourites.

When he finished IKB, he described it as having a quality similar to that of pure space and one which was disengaged from all functional justification.

Bearing these ideas in mind, Mr Wooldridge will explore how questions of authorship and repetition arise when contemporary art is consumed by others, and how the significance of a piece of art can change when this occurs.

This will be an interesting and thought-provoking look at the world of art and one which enthusiasts will not want to miss.

After spending an evening with Mr Woolridge, couples enjoying some time away together can enjoy the perks provided by the Rubens at the Palace's Get More From Your Stay package.

These include a bottle of chilled champagne, a weekend travel card for two adults, a two-course, pre-theatre dinner and a pair of tickets to the London Eye.
