Event: Futurism
Date: June 12th until September 20th
In 1909, Italian poet Filippo Tomasso Marinetti launched an art movement which would change the face of the art world forever.
He published his Manifesto of Futurism on the front page of the Paris newspaper Le Figaro and introduced the world to the work of a small band of radical-thinking Italian artists.
Marinetti's aim was to free Italy from its oppressive past through this movement, with those involved rejecting anything old and focusing only on new ideas and techniques.
It celebrated industry and technology and other elements of the modern world, with their art embodying the dynamism and energy of the times.
This movement, its chief protagonists and its effects on the art world will all be explored in the Futurism exhibition at the Tate Modern.
Visitors will see work from the likes of Luigi Russolo, Umberto Boccioni, Giacomo Balla, Carlo Carra and Gino Severini.
Their love of machines, pollution and cities will be shown through various pieces, including Boccioni's bronze sculpture of a jumping man, Pablo Picasso's Head of a Woman and Christopher Nevinson's Bursting Shell.
After enjoying a day at the Tate Modern, visitors can return to the comfort of the luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace.
While enjoying a stay, guests can book the Go See London package and go on a sightseeing tour of London, as well as take a look out over the capital from the London Eye.
