Event: Pestival 2009
Date: September 3rd to 6th
Back in 2004, Bridget Nicholls had an idea to combine science and art to encourage the world to look at insects in a different way and challenge existing stereotypes.
Two years later, Pestival was born.
In its short existence this mobile arts festival has examined human interactivity in bioscience through contemporary art, music, cinema and scientific demonstrations.
This year will bring together more eminent international scientists and creative minds to contribute to the mission of initiating a cultural shift in the way people view insects and the natural world in general.
Highlights include the magnificent walk-in Termite Pavilion, the Beecab taxi, performances from Thomas Truax, solving crimes with the Insect Detectives and the Horned Skull Ship exhibition from London-based artist Tessa Farmer.
This insect extravaganza will be fun for all the family and somewhere else where mum, dad and the kids can have a great time together is the luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace.
Families who book the Summer at the Palace package can enjoy a full English breakfast before heading out to the Royal parks and tucking into a picnic hamper packed with cold delights.
