Turner and the Masters at the Tate Britain

Event: Turner and the Masters
Date: 23rd Sept until January 31st

The Tate Britain is one of the most famous and well-respected art galleries anywhere on earth, with many significant exhibitions having been staged within its walls over the years.

Less than one mile away is the luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace, which is one of the most pleasant and comfortable places to stay anywhere in the UK.

Combining a visit to the two therefore promises a wonderful time for couples looking for a cultural weekend away.

Towards the end of September, the Tate will welcome another major exhibition which is sure to draw creative minds from near and far to the capital.

Turner and the Masters will explore how William Turner sought to imitate, rival and outshine some of the greatest painters in history, including the likes of Nicolas Poussin, Rembrandt, Peter Paul Rubens and Tiziano Vecelli.

Visitors will see some of Turner's finest works as well as many from the old masters and some from contemporaries such as Constable and Bonington.

The exhibition will show how Turner established his reputation as one of the greatest painters of landscapes in the European tradition by challenging the works of the greats who had gone before him.

If visitors to the exhibition want to enjoy a whole weekend of the capital's cultural delights then let the Rubens at the Palace take care of it with the It's Showtime package.

The deal includes two tickets to a theatre of choice, subject to availability, a pre-theatre dinner and a full English breakfast the following day.
