Event: Rosalind Nashashibi
Date: September 10th until November 1st
Over the last four years, Rosalind Nashashibi has built up a reputation as one of the most visionary filmmakers around, and guests at the luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace can see the most comprehensive presentation of her work yet at the Institute of Contemporary Arts.
The exhibition will present a collection of her 16mm films, with the lower gallery hosting a trio of interconnecting works including Eyeballing, which juxtaposes scenes of New York policemen with the anthropomorphic faces she captured of the people in the city.
In the upper gallery, visitors can see her two most recent productions, with Jack Straw's Castle, made using footage shot in and around London parks, and a movie which is sure to generate debate among those who see it.
The power and depth of Nashashibi's work saw her win the Becks Futures prize in 2003 and this exhibition is the perfect opportunity for art lovers to get to know more about her and her vision.
With the institute just six minutes away from the Rubens at the Palace, guests can spend the afternoon there and arrive back at the hotel in plenty of time for the wonderful three-course carvery dinner provided with the Get More From Your Stay package.
Those who prefer can swap the meal for champagne or a romantic turndown complete with chocolate-dipped strawberries, rose petals and floating candles.
