Event: The Tsarina's Slippers
When: 20th Nov to 8th Dec 2009
Guests of luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace will have an opportunity to experience one of the most charming Tchaikovsky stage productions over the next few weeks.
From November 20th to December 8th, Tchaikovsky's Cherevichki - otherwise known as the Tsarina's Slippers - will be staged at Covent Garden's Royal Opera House.
With an almost entirely Russian cast, the production directed by Francesco Zambello and conducted by Alexander Polianichko will also feature a rare collaboration between the Royal Opera and the Royal Ballet.
A huge cast of singers, dancers and actors make the centrepiece of the show, which is based on a Christmas story by Gogol that combines realistic village comedy with fairytale fantasy.
Guests of the Rubens at the Palace, which is just an eight-minute walk from the opera house via Birdcage Walk, can make their evening even more memorable by taking advantage of the Get More from your Stay package.
It offers a choice of a three-course carvery dinner for two adults on one evening, a bottle of Champagne on arrival or a romantic treat complete with chocolate dipped strawberries, rose petals and floating candles.
