Event: The BFI London Film Festival at various locations
Date: October 13th to 28th
London's cinemas are set to be even busier than usual next month as the annual British Film Institute (BFI) London Film Festival gets underway.
Full details of the event - the 54th to take place in the capital - have yet to be announced, but it has been confirmed the festival will open with the European premiere of Never Let Me Go, Alax Garland's adaptation of the bestselling novel by Kazuo Ishiguro.
Directed by Mark Romanek, the film stars Keira Knightley - famed for her roles in Atonement and Pride and Prejudice - as well as Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield.
It tells the tale of three characters who, during their time at boarding school, discover a secret about their future and learn to deal with love, betrayal and jealousy as they leave school and, as adults, move ever closer to their fate.
All the stars of the film are expected to walk the red carpet ahead of the screening of the opening night and the film is not due to open in the UK until January next year, meaning guests staying at luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace who manage to secure tickets to the event will be able to see it months before anybody else.
The BFI Southbank will be used as the hub of the festival, but other cinemas - including many famous Leicester Square venues - will also be running screenings.
Guests who stay at the Rubens and opt for the Get More From Your Stay package will be able to return to their room after a screening and enjoy a luxury turndown on one evening, which includes floating candles and chocolate-dipped strawberries.
