Event: Move: Choreographing You at the Hayward Gallery
Date: October 13th to January 9th 2011
London has an abundance of galleries and museums where visitors can study various forms of art, but it is rare that attendees get the chance to become part of the exhibit itself.
However, this is what is on offer at the Hayward Gallery in the Southbank Centre, which will be running Move: Choreographing You from October 13th to January 9th 2011.
The event lets those who go to the gallery participate in installations and sculptures that have been designed by some of the most influential choreographers and visual artists from the last half-century, with those featured including Robert Morris, Tino Sehgal, Yvonne Rainer and William Forsythe.
It is being overseen by Stephanie Rosenthal, chief curator at the Hayward Gallery and staged in an array of concertinaed screens designed by Amanda Levete Architects - famed for their work on Birmingham's Selfridges store and the Lord's cricket ground media centre.
Sculptures and installations will be found throughout the venue, along with dancers from Laban Contemporary Dance and interactive items, such as hula hoops and a digital archive focusing on dance and its influence on contemporary art since the 1960s.
Guests staying at luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace will be just a short distance away from the Hayward Gallery and those who have booked the Get More From Your Stay package will be able to return to the hotel and enjoy a romantic turndown on one evening, or alternatively sample a three-course carvery dinner for two.
