Restaurants
Swish and swanky -
The Ivy is an old favourite and never fails to wow diners, famed for it's fantastic dishes. Whilst Tom's Top Tip of the moment is Hakkasan, for something a little bit different but still deliciously special Hakkasan's Asian cuisine is unmissable.
Tightening the belt a Touch-
The Gaucho Grill is a well established chain of restaurants, found all over London, known for the exceptional quality of Argentinian cuisine, particularly their mouth-watering steaks. Tom's Top Tip: Stroll across the Royal parks to sample the scrumptious fare served at The Only Running Footman, Mayfair's fabulous gastro-pub.
Cheap and Cheerful-
Wagamamas noodle bar can be found just a few moments away from the hotel and indeed in various locations throughout the capital whilst Tom's Top Tip is to try Seafresh for tasty traditional English fish and chips and more.
Shopping
People come from all over the world to take a trip to the nearby fashionable borough of Knightsbridge. Harrods and Harvey Nichols are renouned for being the height of shopping chic.
Tom's Top Tip: wander down Portobello road in Notting Hill on a Saturday and you will find the many stalls of Portobello Market, crammed full of a vast array of clothes, accessories and antiques. While you're there pop into the Hummingbird Bakery for a dreamy fairycake.
Entertainment
The Phantom of the Opera has been running for 22 years and continues to wow audiences today. Tom's Top Tip for an alternative evening's entertainment is to try the Regents Park Open Air Theatre or Shakespeare's Globe for outstanding alfresco entertainment with a twist.
Site-Seeing
The Tower of London is always close to the top of the visiting tourist's must-see spots and is indeed worthy of such high acclaim, offering an interesting insight into English history on an impressive backdrop.
Why not give Tom's Top Tip a whirl and take a walk down the South Bank, absorbing the atmosphere and, if you like, stop off at a gallery or the Millenium eye on the way.
The Chicago Rib Shack is back as part of London life. The place has been lovingly restored and parts of it, such as the original Rib Shack metal sign, are still in use today. The light fittings are reclaimed from Smithfield Meat Market along with the meat hooks used to hang the pictures. The food is prepared using the original 25-year-old recipes and the meat is sourced from animals living on free-range farms. For families there is a great kids menu, which they can colour in as well. A definite must for your trip to London.
