With its prestigious address opposite Buckingham Palace, the five-star The Rubens at the Palace is a fitting venue for an illustrious Champagne dinner in London, created in partnership with Lanson. Having popped its first cork more than 250 years ago, Lanson has been an official supplier to the British Royal Family ever since it was granted a Royal Warrant in 1901 by Queen Victoria.
Located in Reims, in the heart of France’s Champagne region, Lanson is one of the most eminent Champagne houses in the world. Its grounds include Clos Lanson, the only vineyard situated within Reims’ city walls, and its library of Champagnes is notable for their crisp, fresh flavours and fine bubbles. The house’s distinct crest, the Maltese Cross, can be credited to Nicolas Louis Delamotte, a Knight of the Order of Malta and the son of Lanson’s original founder, Francois Delamotte.
Begin the evening with a sparkling aperitif in the elegant surrounds of the Leopard Bar, famed for its extensive menu of 30 Champagnes. Enjoy live jazz and swing music with a sparkling flute of Lanson’s Rosé Champagne, served alongside delicious canapés.
Guests are then guided to their seats in the newly refurbished The English Grill to enjoy a starter of Orkney king scallops, English chorizo and Applewood smoked Cheddar. The accompanying glass of Lanson Père et Fils pairs excellently with seafood. Experts from the Lanson Champagne house are available throughout the evening to offer pairing advice and tasting tips.
Choose from a main course of either corn-fed chicken breast served with bubble-and-squeak potatoes, savoy cabbage and truffle pesto, or a rich wild mushroom risotto. Your selection is complemented by Lanson’s Vintage 2008, one of the house’s most exceptional years in recent history. Following this, an autumnal dessert of blackberry semifreddo is the perfect match for the playful fruitiness of Lanson Demi-Sec.
Rounding off the menu is a grand finale of fine cheeses, including British favourites such as creamy Bix and Isle of Wight Blue, which are enjoyed with Lanson Green Label, the house’s first organic Champagne.
In addition to a lavish four-course dinner and expertly paired vintages, guests are gifted a voucher for a complimentary glass of Champagne, to be enjoyed on their next visit to the hotel. There is also the chance for guests to win a magnum of Lanson Champagne in a special prize draw.
The four-course Champagne dinner with canapés and a flight of Lanson Champagnes is priced at £70.00 per person. Book now or for more information, please call +44 (0)20 7834 6600 or email email@example.com.
