Opened earlier this summer, the new and expanded Leopard Bar at the Rubens at the Palace promises a fun and memorable evening. A signature of Mrs Tollman, Red Carnation Hotels’ Leopard Bars can be found in several of the company’s properties around the globe. Inspired by the timeless appeal of leopard print, the centrepiece of the Leopard Bar at the Rubens is the Bronze Leopard Structure, sculpted by Donald Greig, which is complemented by leopard print accents in the form of soft furnishings. Cosy and intimate, guess can settle into soft brown leather armchairs for an evening of live music and delicious drinks in the wood panelled bar.
Open from 5pm-12am every Tuesday through Saturday, one of the highlights of the Leopard Bar is its live music, which is scheduled from 7pm-11pm every night. Equipped with a piano and stage, visitors can expect a jazz bar atmosphere as well as an abundant supply of both whiskey and Champagne. Guests can sip on over 30 varieties of Champagne, such as Cristal and Krug Rose, many of which are available by the glass. In addition, there’s an astounding offering of 200 different whiskeys, which includes spirits from Scotland, Ireland and Wales as well as more unconventional locations such as Japan, Taiwan and Italy. Fitted glass display cabinets showcase a few bottles from the bar’s whiskey collection and guests looking to improve their spirits knowledge can also take part in a signature Whiskey Experience, a fitting alternative to the Gin Experience, which is available in the hotel’s New York bar. Educational and good fun, the Whiskey Experience is led by Angelo, the barman at the Rubens with almost three decades worth of experience and knowledge, and includes a historical insight into each blend, as well as whiskey nosing and food pairing.
Alongside Champagne and whiskey, the Leopard Bar also serves a selection of house cocktails. Champagne cocktails are a speciality and the Twinkle, made with vodka, lemon juice and elderflower, and the classic French 75 both come highly recommended. Accompany your preferred cocktail with the hotel’s legendary steak sandwich. Made with British Wagyu steak and topped with a wild garlic and chive butter, it’s served with some incredibly moreish truffle and parmesan chips.
